You have reached the Pet Planet Clan's pet memorial page. You have admired the Clan's present and much loved canine (and feline) companions. Equally loved and not forgotten are those pets that have previously enriched the lives of their owners and brought joy and happiness, but who are no longer with us.

This is our tribute to them. An old native American legend gave birth to the notion of the Rainbow bridge, below is the anonymous ode to that legend. As you read it, remember your departed pet, and live sound in the knowledge that despite the cruel twist of nature that made the lifespan of man and pet incompatible, your  dog or  cat could not have had a better existence, and if you believe...............

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

..

"One who possessed beauty
without vanity,
strength without insolence,
courage without ferocity,
and all the virtues of man,
without his vices.
This praise would be unmeaning flattery
if inscribed over human ashes,
is but a just tribute
to the memory of my dog."

- Lord Byron

This is Saffy,  beloved girl and Soul mate of Penel Malby and Tilly.

She sadly lost her battle against illness and died February 2003.
To say that she was an extra ordinary girl is an understatement. Her sad loss will be felt by all of the "community" that uses the Pet Planet forum. This poor dog struggled against a form of auto immune disease, so much in the news at the moment and foremost in the mind of dog owners in the question of the validity of giving annual boosters.

Through their association with the board, brave Saffy, and her equally courageous owner Penel have probably done more to bring this subject to the fore, and many owners and their dogs owe a great dept of gratitude to them.

Saffy will not only be missed by Penel & Tilly, because Saffy is one dog that will be mourned by many people who have never even met her. A brave girl who richly deserves a special place on rainbow bridge, and in our hearts.

Trixie ? - 2005

Owners Mary & Trevor Giles

This little dog was adopted by Mary and her husband Trevor. Despite numerous health problems, Trixie had a wonderful life with two loving people who doted on her.

Her passing, although  a sad event, is tempered by the fact that this little "princess" found two wonderful people who cared, and despite her obvious ill health, she lived a contented and peaceful life because of them.

Joining her one time companion, Boysie at Rainbow bridge, she will now have the rest that she deserves.

Woody

Woody was a  rescue owned by Cazz Cheaney

Having found a good home with people who loved him, fate cruelly intervened and took poor Woody at a young age with a brain tumour. A beachcomber from Devon, Woody now waits at Rainbow Bridge to thank Cazz for his time with her

Sadly, Kerry living together with Merlin and Zen with Ingrid Nicholls & Dave lost the battle against illness this Christmas. Living to the grand age of 16 years, he could not have had a better life. He now has a special place on our board as the first of our canine friends to pass away since the site has been running.

Boomer 1980 to 1996
owner Bernice Leigh
I put my hand down by my chair
Then I remember you're not there
I didn't want to let you go
But couldn't see you suffer so
I held you close my faithful friend
As dignified your life did end.
Sometimes when I'm feeling sad
I think of the happy times we had
Of how you loved to romp and play
A pal to all who came your way
At the world you wagged your tail
Then slowly your health began to fail
The sad day came when we had to part
Though you're gone from our lives
You remain in our hearts.
